Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. The weather is usually mild in my area of the country but there is the crispness of fall in the air. We have more and more trick-or-treaters coming through our neighborhood each year and many families and friends have hay rides and come in groups. I usually dress in costume at work and it is just an all around fun day.

I don’t usually make holiday themed jewelry, but I made an exception for Halloween. Here are a few spooky designs.

Spooky ~ Atlanta Rhythm Section

In the cool of the evening
When everything is gettin kind of groovy
I call you up and ask you if you
Want to go with me and see a movie
First you say no, you’ve got some plans for the night
And then you stop, and say, all right
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you

You always keep me guessin
I never seem to know what you are thinkin
And if a fella looks at you
It’s for sure your little eye will be a-winkin
I get confused, cause I don’t know where I stand
And then you smile, and hold my hand
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you
Spooky

If you decide someday to stop this little game that you are
playin
I’m gonna tell you all what my heart’s been a-dyin to be sayin
Just like a ghost, you’ve been a-hauntin my dreams
So I’ll propose on Halloween
Love is kinda crazy with a spooky little girl like you

Spooky, spooky
Spooky, oh whoa, all right
I said Spooky

Usually I keep this blog to a jewelry design theme but occasionally I stray. In the process of prepping for my Halloween costume for a work event this year, I learned some information I wanted to pass on. I am a fan of Audrey Hepburn, not just her movies but as a person who continued to remain beautiful into older age…and NOT like many Hollywood actresses… by having plastic surgery.

Audrey Hepburn was born  Audrey Kathleen Ruston in Brussels, Belgium.

Some of her most famous movies were Roman Holiday, Sabrina, My Fair Lady, Charade, The Nun’s Story, War and Peace, Breakfast at Tiffany’s, Funny Face, and my favorite Wait Until Dark.

During the last  dozen years of her life she worked as a special goodwill ambassador for the United Nations Children’s Emergency Fund (UNICEF).

I decided to pay homage to one of her most recognizable characters, Holly Golightly, from the movie Breakfast at Tiffany’s,  I took inspiration from one of the movie’s classic scenes in which Holly pulls up in a taxi in New York City and is drinking coffee and eating a danish in front of the window at Tiffany’s.

Some additional facts on Breakfast at Tiffany’s (1961). The movie is based on a novella writen by Truman Capote. It has been widely reported that Mr. Capote wanted Marilyn Monroe  to play Holly Golightly. It was directed by Blake Edwards.  The memorable song in the film, Moon River, was composed by Henry Mancini. It was co-written with lyrisist Johnny Mercer.  The song has been recorded over 500 times and has sold over a million copies of sheet music.

Some of the other actors in the movie were George Peppard, Mickey Rooney, Patricia Neal, Martin Balsam, and Buddy Ebsen.

The black dress, the sunglasses, the pearls, the updo...unfortunately, no Tiffany's window!
